Jobs Resources
Are you looking for jobs resources for senior citizens or individuals of retirement age? If so, you are in luck. One resource you may want to try is Career One Stop. This is an organization actually sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor and offers a great many helpful resources and information for senior citizens. You might also want to check out SeniorJobBank, an online website that is especially geared towards job seekers over the age of 50.
Another fantastic resource is the AARP, which stands for the American Association of Retired Persons. The AARP is a membership organization for people over 50 that has so much to offer. Not only do they publish an info-packed website, they also have a popular publication. On both the website and in the magazine you will find all kinds of resources relating to finance, work, health, family and so much more. You may even want to join as a member to reap the rewards of AARP membership.
You can also find local resources at your area employment commission. An employment commission is a facility that helps match people with jobs. Similar to this is a temporary agency, which matches up applicants with jobs that fit their skill set. If you don't care too much about the type of job you have and don't mind working on a temporary basis this can be a good solution. While many of the jobs offered by these agencies are factory jobs others are clerical and administrative jobs ideal for older citizens. Receptionist and greeter positions are great for retired people because they are mostly sedentary and quite easy to learn.
With all the jobs resources out there it shouldn't be hard to find employment, even after retirement. How difficult it is depends on your area, your skills, your resume and the type of job you want. Sometimes socializing and networking with other seniors through an in-person group or even an online group can be very helpful. You may be led to opportunities you didn't even know existed. At the least you may make new friends and find out more about the employment experiences of other seniors in your area and around the country.
