Best Retirement Jobs

Not everyone who retires is ready to stop working. Sure, you may leave a company you've been with for ages, get a nice going away party and of course your retirement benefits. But does that mean you're ready to give up work altogether and lounge around for the rest of your days? Many seniors would answer with an emphatic no. Whether you are seeking work for monetary gain or personal fulfillment, there are many retirement jobs perfect for individuals over 50.

If you have no trouble standing for extended periods of time, consider a cashier job at a supermarket or department store. Often these jobs involve standing behind a register and walking around to help customers. If you can stand comfortably, consider this type of job because they pay isn't bad and there is plenty of opportunity for public socialization. In addition employees often get discounts which help with holiday shopping or even shopping for themselves. Not only that, but retail stores sometimes offer decent benefits and a pleasant working environment.

You may also want to enter a career field in which you are passionate and interested. If you love to paint, consider teaching an art class or selling your work. You may even want to volunteer at a children's art class. Maybe you love gardening. There are plenty of garden departments at stores and even nurseries who sell nothing but plants who need part time work. While some of the work may be strenuous there are positions that seniors can handle such as cashier or customer service representative.

When it comes to the best retirement jobs, it all depends on how much money you hope to make and what your interests are. Ideally you should be paid well for something you love. While this isn't always the case it is possible. At the least you can find a reasonable paying job that is tolerable, to help ends meet or get you out of the house. If you are an Internet surfer there are actually job sites geared towards seniors over the age of 50. You may also want to check into some senior interest groups in your local area that may post job listings appropriate for retired persons.
